The year of Ultrabooks has begun, the
CES 2012 unveiled many Ultrabooks and many of them are yet to show their
faces in the market. The Ultrabooks are evolved laptops which are the
thinner, lighter, speedy and stylish, and possess a high performing
Intel chip. Every computer manufacturer is producing this new breed of
laptops and here is the list of the hottest once to hit the Indian
market.
The Wipro Aero e.go is India’s first and slimmest ultrabook for the domestic market spanning enterprises and retail segments.
The ultrabook is powered by second generation Intel core i5 processor, 4GB of memory, 500GB of hard drive and sports 14 inch high definition LED display. The ultrabook is pre-loaded with Windows 7 and MS Office Starter and boasts of an isolation keyboard and a touch pad. Along with this e.go Wipro has also launched Aero Alpha and Aero Book. Considering the price sensitive Indian market the ultrabook is priced between Rs.39,000 and Rs.49,000 for different configurations.
HP Folio 13 is designed to bridge the gap between the professional and personal life. It comes with thin and light design with strong security options and provides an ultimate mobile experience.
This ultrabook is powered by 1.6 MHz Intel Core i5 processor, 4 GB of DDR3 RAM, is integrated with Intel Graphic 3000 chipset and it also includes Intel’s Rapid Start Technology (RST). It sports a 13.3 inch high definition ‘BrightView’ display with 1366 x 768 pixels of screen resolution. The device also features a backlit keyboard, a full array of connectivity ports like USB 3.0 and 2.0, Ethernet and HDMI. It also has Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 128 GB Solid-State Drive (SSD), HP TrueVision HD webcam, Dolby Advanced Audio, supports multi-touch gesture support and is configured with Windows 7 operating system. This ultrabook has a starting price of Rs.69990.
The Lenovo IdeaPad U300s has 13.3 inch ultra-slim widescreen high definition display,
is powered by Intel i5 processor with Intel turbo boost technology 2.0,
4 GB of DDR3 memory along with 128 GB of SSD storage drive.
The keyboard comes with an Advanced Cooling Technology from Intel that allows air to flow in through the keyboard and out of the sides and rear hinge. It also features Bluetooth 3.0, Wi-Fi, USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 ports and an integrated 1.3 megapixel HD webcam. This decent looking ultrabook has a price tag of Rs.61000.
Asus Zenbook UX31E has an excellent look with stunning 13 inch LED Backlight display with 1600x900 pixels of resolution.
It is powered by Intel Core i7 processor, Intel HD 3000 graphic card, DDR3 1333 MHz SDRAM OnBoard Memory, 128 GB and 256 GB SSD hard disk and runs on Windows 7 operating system. It also has USB 2.0, USB 3.0, VGA port, micro HDMI, audio in and out pots, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. This Ultrabook will be available in India at Rs.89999.

Samsung has launched two new series of ultrabooks (series 9 and series 5) at CES 2012. Now the Indian market is going to see the series 5 ultrabooks. The series 5 ultrabooks are available in 13 and 14 inch models for Rs.48990 and Rs.54390 respectively.
Both the variants of this ultrabook have similar specifications;
dual-core 1.6GHz Intel Core i5-2467M processors, 500GB hard disk/16GB
SSD hybrid drive and a 1366 x 768 resolution screen. For connectivity
both has WiFi, Bluetooth, HDMI output, a 4-in-1 card slot, and two USB
2.0 ports. The 14inch gets 6GB of DDR3 RAM, a Radeon HD7550 graphic
chip, an optical drive and weighs 1.8 kilogram, while the 13inch has a
4GB of DDR3 RAM, an integrated Intel graphics, a USB 3.0 and weighs just
1.4 kilograms.
