Lenovo K800: First Intel Inside Smartphone

Lenovo launched its new Smartphone - K800, the first of its kind to run on Intel's 1.6GHz Medfield processor at CES 2012 in Las Vegas. With this new venture Intel is all set to make its entry into the Smartphone chip market.

Lenovo K800 smartphone come with a 4.5-inch a TFT display with 720p, Intel's 32-nanometer mobile chip dubbed Medfield, which is part of Intel's Atom line and runs on Android 4.0 OS.  The phone also has an 8 megapixel shooter with dual-LED flash and a front-facing camera for video calling, 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 3.0, GPS connectivity and Wi-Di (Wireless Display), near-field communication (NFC) for mobile payments and a HDMI port. K800 is also able to stream video to TV sets equipped with Intel's Wireless Display technology.  This phone will be available in the market by the second quarter of this year; its price is not disclosed yet.

Motorola has also made deals with Intel to come up with smartphones and other devices having Intel processors. Motorola Mobility Holdings Inc CEO Sanjay Jha at the CES said that the company will have Intel-powered phones in testing this summer and ready for consumer hands a few months later.

Intel has also announced its plans with Google to make a worldwide architecture for Smartphone chips for Google’s Android based systems. Presently this market is ruled by ARM Holdings, producing chips with amazing performance. Intel’s entry into this field and its success will become quite visible in this year.

Is Lenovo Launching Quad-core Tablet PC?

Lenovo is planning to launch Le Pad Tablet PC by 2012, reports Digitimes. After the introduction of Lenovo Le Pad Tablet on 23^rd August, Lenovo is planning to come out with a Quad-core Le Pad or Le Pad Tablet PC.

As per the report, the forthcoming tablet PC is going to hit the market on early 2012. The former Le Pad Tablet has Nvidia Tegra 2 dual core processor but this time Lenovo included Quad-core processor. Earlier Lenovo has introduced Android 3.1 Honeycomb, active digitizer stylus, IPS screen, storage up to 64GB in its ThinkPad Tablet which is also very eye catchy.  So it’s assumed that the upcoming Tablet PC will also bring success in the market. However, the Le Pad Tablet PC features and price are not yet mentioned.

Quad-core means four-Core Processors for example AMD Phenom II X4, Nvidia Tegra 3 and Intel Core i7. Dual-core processor will soon take a back seat because of Quad-core processor’s high performance. There are many upcoming devices equipped with Quad-core processor. Some of those devices are: HTC Edge, Samsung Galaxy SIII, and then Apple also testing with Quad-core processor in iPhone5. ASUS Eee Pad Transformer Prime Tablet will be out in the market by the end of 2011 which claims to be the first Quad-core processor so far. It can assume that if these all devices make their moves by 2012 then they would become the competitor of Lenovo Le Pad Tablet PC which has included Quad-core processor.

According to the report, sales of Lenovo’s Tablet are about 8.4 percent which just standing after Apple’s iPad in China and with the upcoming launch of Quad-core processor Tablet PC Lenovo plans to acquire more market in his home land.

Lenovo ThinkPad X130e Rugged and Student-Aimed

Lenovo has revealed the ThinkPad X130e, a notebook for students and schools with an 11.6 inch display, less than 1.81 Kg in weight over the whole chassis, and up to 8.5 hours of runtime on its biggest and best battery option. There will be several models offered up with interchangeable specifications like AMD or Intel processors, and all models will include a rubber bumper on the top, reinforced and recessed ports, and both strong rounded corners and hinges.

A user will be able to pick up one of these little monsters for the low price of Rs. 24,104 directly from Lenovo. Users will have options of 3 cell, 31.2 Whr or 6 cell, 62.4 Whr batteries. User will have the ability to load in as much as 8GB of RAM, a 500GB or 320GB hard drive, and the massive range of ports. It also includes an ethernet port, 3 USB 2.0 ports, a flash card reader, HDMI port, and VGA port as well.

There’s also a VGA webcam with “low light sensitivity” so a user can chat in the dusk. There are several standard models, one of them with an Intel Core i3-2367M processor, the other two with AMD E-300 or AMD E-450 processor options.

Lenovo Announces LePhone K2

Lenovo has announced another Android Gingerbread phone, named as LePhone K2. The LePad K2 is based on Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread, and sports a 4.3 inch IPS display, 1.5 GHz dual-core CPU on the MSM8260, 1 GB of RAM, and an 8 MP camera with 1080p HD video recording. No pricing or availability detail have been announced but is expected to arrive by January.

The other phones that will come along with K2 will be S2 and LePad S2005. The Lenovo LePhone S2 is based on a 1.4 GHz Qualcomm Scorpion CPU on the MSM8255 chipset, and runs on Android 2.3.4 Gingerbread and has a 3.8 inch screen. Two versions of LePhone S2 are expected; the costlier version comes with a 1 GB of RAM coupled with 16 GB of inbuilt storage, or Lenovo would launch a cheaper 512 MB/8 GB variant.

Lenovo will be offering 200 GB of cloud storage with the device. However, there is no space for expandable memory. The LePhone S2 comes with an 8 MP camera capable of 720p HD video recording. The price of the phone is Rs.24,300.

The 5 inch phone from Lenovo has also been announced and is expected to be available in China in next two three days. The phone is called Lenovo LePad S2005 is expected to be called the IdeaTab when it releases globally. The phone is slim with a 9.9 mm-thickness and sports a dual-core 1.2 GHz Scorpion CPU, coupled with 1 GB of RAM, Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread, and a Amoled screen running on LTPS technology, promising an extra wide 178-degree viewing angle, with 800x480 resolution.

It comes with 5 MP camera capable of 1080p HD video recording, a 1.3 MP front-facing camera, and has micro USB and micro HDMI ports. The detail about the pricing is not revealed.
