Nokia to Launch its First Tablet

Mobile maker Nokia has stepped into the tablet market by announcing its first windows 8 tablet to be launched in June 2012.

Paul Amsellem, head of Nokia France, said, "In June 2012 we will have a tablet running windows 8." He also mentioned updates about Nokia's plans for the Windows Phone smartphone platform as well and we can soon expect Nokia to launch powerful, smarter smartphones under the Nokia Lumia product range.

While, not much information about the hardware specification of the new device were revealed but the device expected to feature a new 1.4 Ghz processor with 1 GB of RAM along with the regular fanfare from Nokia.

Going by the recent trend, Indian Nokia fans can also expect the device at around the same time as the rest of the world. 

Apple Chooses Sharp for New iPad 3 Screens

Apple has announced that it will not be placing orders with Samsung for the new iPad 3 touch screens. Apple has decided to go with Sharp for the new LCD screens. The relationship involves Apple investing in some of Sharp's Japanese manufacturing facilities. Specifically, Sharp's Kameyama No. 2 plant in central Japan is tipped to manufacturer LCD panels for Apple's next iPad expected in 2012.

Sharp, an existing supplier of iPhone and iPod touch panels will also be making panels for Apple's next generation iPhone. Apple is just looking to get a better deal on components, maybe to reduce selling prices to a more competitive range. Apple has new products on the way, like the iPad 3, the iPhone 5 and the rumored Apple iTV.

LG Prada K2 Coming in 2012

LG and Italian fashion label Prada has will introduce a new smartphone, LG Prada K2 in 2012.

The LG Prada K2 handset will have a 4.3 inch NOVA display and a dual-core processor. However, LG has not revealed actual specifications of the handset.

 

Both companies had worked together earlier for the first LG Prada phone that was released in 2007 to compete with the original first generation Apple iPhone. The second phone was the LG Prada II smartphone with slide out QWERTY keyboard and 3G support in the year 2008. The LG Prada II ran LG's own custom operating system instead of Windows Mobile or Android.

The LG Prada K2 handset will have company's super-bright NOVA display with maximum brightness. That will give competition to the Nokia 701 handset which is claimed to have 1000 nits brightness as well.

The LG Prada K2 will come with Android 2.3.x Gingerbread running on it and a dual-core processor. Obviously the smartphone will come with Prada styling.

So far, the company has not committed an exact date of launch or revealed anything on pricing. We just hope that this smartphone be upgradable to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich if it launches next year.

Motorola Droid 4 to Launch on December 8

Bangalore: Motorola Droid 4 named, Maserati is expected to launch on December 8 in the U.S. The handset will have 4 inch Super Amoled display and a slide-out five-row illuminating QWERTY keyboard that will make the keyboard visible even in darkness and low luminance areas.

Anna Hazare gets MCD nod for Ramlila Maidan stir

NEW DELHI: In a clear indication that Team Anna is unlikely to be satisfied by the recommendation of the parliamentary standing committee looking into the Lokpal bill and is planning to launch a fresh offensive, the activists have already sought permission from civic authorities to stage protests at Ramlila Maidan from December 27 besides holding rallies against a weak Lokpal from Monday.

Sources said Gandhian Anna Hazare has been given permission by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi to protest at the Ramlila Maidan. The activists had applied to MCD two days ago for allocation of the ground, where Hazare had held a protest fast in August. Sources said permission had been sought to hold the protest from December 27 to January 5.

"We will hold the protest and it will be led by Hazare. It is not clear whether it will be a fast but there will be some form of agitation," a senior Team Anna member said.

The MCD permission is subject to a no-objection certificate from the police.

Team Anna has been adamant on the inclusion lower bureaucracy, citizens' charter and the PM within the ambit of the Lokpal. The report of the standing committee is expected by the middle of this week.

Hazare had earlier announced that he would re-launch the agitation on December 22 at the end of the winter session of Parliament if a strong Lokpal bill was not passed.
