Dell Launches First Ultrabook 'XPS13'

Dell launched XPS13, its first member into the ultrabook crowd. Dell was working on this new laptop design even before Intel defined the concept of ultrabook, but it seems like Dell lagged a bit in the race.

XPS 13 is quite sleek and light weight and qualifies all the attributes to be called as an ultrabook. XPS13 has a 13-inch Gorilla Glass display which fits into a typical 12-inch laptop case, thanks to the thin-bezeled display used. The device weighs 2.9 pounds and has a thickness of 0.24 inches at its thinnest point and 0.71 inches at it’s thickest.   

Tim Peters, vice president at Dell’s consumer group, said the new machine emphasizes five features: small form factor, performance without compromise, usability, aesthetics, and cool temperature performance.

XPS 13 will be the first laptop to reach the market with the Intel’s Smart Connect technology which sporadically wakes up the sleeping PC to refresh the running network applications. Dell also offers an optional Trusted Platform Module (TPM) chip for enterprise use.  The device come with Core i3, i5, or i7 processors, a 128GB or 256GB solid state drive, and 4GB of RAM. XPS13 has a backlit keyboard with a large glass multitouch touchpad, a mini DisplayPort, an Ethernet jack and a high-quality audio that comes out of the keyboard. It also sports USB 3.0 port, USB 2.0 port and 128 gigabytes of flash memory which is upgradeable to 256 gigabytes.

This new player of Dell is supposed to reach the market by February coasting around $1000. Its availability and price is not confirmed yet for Indian market. We believe Dell will price XP13 in the same range of its Adamo XPS which cost around Rs.60000.

Dell Introduces Gaming PC -Alienware Aurora R4

Dell’s subordinate Alienware introduced new gaming PC which is Alienware Aurora R4. According to Dell Aurora R4 is the most advanced gaming PC so far.

This high-end gaming PC has got ample specifications, such as: Intel’s 2^nd generation core i7 3000 series Six core processor; Intel X79 Express Chipset with Unlocked BIOS; advanced GPUs configured with 1GB GDDR5 AMD Radeon HD 6870, 2GB GDDR5 AMD Radeon HD 6950, Nvidia GeForce GTX 560Ti and Nvidia GeForce GTX 580; Memory options of 8GB or 16GB Quad Channel 1600MHz DDR3; 2TB Hard Drive options; 256GB and 512GB SSD options and also includes single and dual Blu-ray Disc Reader and Burner. It also has liquid CPU cooling and powered by 875-Watt power supply.

Alienware Aurora R4

The gaming PC has good audio options that includes Waves MAXX audio software, Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Xtreme Audio and Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium. It has automatic lighting motorized by a separate rechargeable battery that turns on even if it’s not connected with the main power and the external lighting has eight different “alien effect” zones around the framework

Alienware claims that the upholding and the advancement of Aurora R4 are easy to use and comfortable. The available price of Alienware Aurora R4 in Indian market is Rs. 1, 25,000 to Rs. 2, 00,000.

According to the users review, the specifications offered by Alienware Aurora R4 are amazing but too expensive to afford. However, ASUS which suits best for PC gaming also offers high-quality features like liquid cooling, Intel core processor and supports Nvidia, ATI and Microsoft’s DirectX11 at a better price range.
