Highest Team Scores in one day internationals

Evolution of twenty20 matches, the improved bats and restlessness in modern batsmen has changed cricket quite a bit. highest totals in one day internationals are fast changing as you can see in following table..

444 for 3 wickets by England came again Pakistan recently at the back of 171 by Alex Hales and then a rocket partnership between Jos Buttler and Eoin Morgan. This was only the second time England crossed 400 runs mark in ODI cricket and now own the record!

443/9 by Sri Lanka against Netherlands (Holland) was made when Lankans visited the cricketing minnow country for a series of two ODIs. it was the first match of series and visitors elected to bat first. Upul Tharanga was out for just 18 but his opening partners Sanath Jayasuriya continued for 157 individual score off only 104 balls with 24 fours and a six. Tillakaratane Dilshan, batting at number 5, scored 117 unbeaten to push Sri Lanka to the largest ODI total till date.

Australia v South Africa 5th ODI at Johannesburg saw the first time ever 400 runs scored in one day match, in both innings and remain at 2nd and 3rd highest total by any team in one day matches. That day, Herschelle Gibbs scored 175 from only 111 balls which still is the 12th highest ODI score by a batsman.

Interesting is New Zealand's 397/5 against Zimbabwe back on 24 August 2005 which came off only 44 overs, which gives us the highest runrate by a team in their innings, at 9.02 runs per over.
